Suggested Readings: Psalm 89:1-4, 19-26; 2 Samuel 6:1-11; Hebrews 1:1-4

I will sing about the Lord’s faithful love forever;
I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations
with my mouth.
For I will declare,
“Faithful love is built up forever;
you establish your faithfulness in the heavens.”

The Lord said,
“I have made a covenant with my chosen one;
I have sworn an oath to David my servant:
‘I will establish your offspring forever
and build up your throne for all generations.’” Selah

It is almost here! There are just a few more days until we celebrate the manifestation of the LORD’s faithful love spoken of in Psalm 89:1-4.

The world has always needed God’s faithful love. Although there have been seasons of despair throughout time, today it seems like more than ever we are longing for Jesus.  We can despair just listening to news reports. We wonder if things can be any worse? But then we are reminded by the psalmist that God’s love is faithful and forever. As you anticipate the coming of Jesus into the world, focus your thoughts on God and his faithful love. It is a love that never fades, fails, falters or changes.

May we live our lives in the knowledge that God’s faithful love is always with us, not just at Christmas time, but all year long. How can we live such a life? Is there someone you have encountered who needs to know the joy of a relationship with Christ? Go share the love of Christ in tangible ways. Is there someone with whom you need reconciliation? Go and be reconciled. Is there someone you know who is hurting and needs a listening ear? Go and spend time with that person. Do you need to spend time pondering the gift of salvation provided through Christ?  Go and spend time in prayer and meditation on Scripture.

We anticipate the coming of Christ into the world. Our hope is not a wistful hope of wondering if God is present, but a sure hope that God’s love is so deep that he sent his only Son to provide redemption for a sinful world. Redemption through a relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord is the ultimate expression of God’s faithful love.
