Belmont marks a decade of excellence, achieving highest ranking for exceptional support of military-connected students

Belmont University has been named a 2024-25 Military Friendly® School at the Gold level, marking the 10th consecutive year Belmont has been awarded a Military Friendly® designation and its first Gold level recognition.

Gold medallionThe Military Friendly® Schools program rigorously evaluated over 1,800 institutions using public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. Among participants, only 537 schools earned awards level designations with 243 receiving Gold recognition for their outstanding practices, outcomes and effective programs.

Belmont’s Veteran Success Team hosted a celebratory event in the Bruin Vets Center, where University senior leadership unveiled the Gold-level ranking to Belmont’s military connected student community.

"We're grateful for this Gold distinction as a testimony to our ongoing efforts to support you and all future students who will come here, who have served our nation so well," said Belmont University President Dr. Greg Jones. "We as a University remain committed to providing the resources and support needed to help you transition successfully into civilian life and Academic and Career Excellence."

The 2024-25 Military Friendly Schools list will be published in G.I. Jobs magazine's October issue.

“Achieving the Military Friendly School award at the Gold level is a great accomplishment and demonstrates how the Belmont military-connected community continues to grow,” said Kim Powell, assistant director of Interdisciplinary Studies and Global Education and leader of Belmont’s Veteran Success Team. “This recognition is a testament to the resources and support we provide to assist our students in transitioning successfully into civilian, academic and professional life.”

Currently, nearly 340 military-connected students are enrolled at Belmont, including veterans, active duty personnel, reservists, ROTC and military-affiliated students whose spouse or parents have served.

Gigi Sellis, a senior biology major with aspirations for medical school, shared: "Belmont has been amazing. The admissions process and getting in was smooth, and I've felt supported."

Zachary Hyche, a 2024 graduate, added: “Belmont was amazing to me as an undergrad and even helped me finish my degree while deployed. The Gold designation is well deserved, and the veteran success team is full of amazing individuals!"

“Belmont has created an environment that embraces veterans to the next step, while also maintaining the camaraderie that many veterans miss when transitioning into a new phase of their life."
