Biography

Sarah J Dietsche (she/her) holds a Ph.D. in historical musicology from the University of Memphis with an emphasis in American music and choral music education. Her previous degrees include a Master's and Bachelor's degree in jazz voice performance. Dr. Dietsche’s research projects regarding music and politics, music and conflict, African American music, and American popular music have resulted in publications in Notes, Quarterly Journal of the Music Library Association and the SAGE International Encyclopedia of Music and Culture as well as presentations at several regional and international conferences. She has previously served as an adjunct professor at Rhodes College and the University of Memphis. 
Dr. Dietsche lives in Minnesota where she also works as a Couples and Family Therapist, teaches private piano and voice students, and performs as a freelance singer/pianist.
