Biography

Mary Ann’s career has been dedicated to higher education. She has had the privilege to support students in achieving their academic and wellness goals, foster a deeper sense of belonging to their institution, and find opportunities to create a positive impact within their local communities. Prior to arriving at the Frist College of Medicine at Belmont University, Mary Ann served as a Learning Specialist at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and coached students from various health programs, including Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing, Physical Therapy, and Occupational Therapy. Before working with professional and graduate students, Mary Ann’s professional experience included working with undergraduate students in new student orientation, community engagement, campus events and programming, and academic coaching for student-athletes.

 Mary Ann earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She received her Master of Science degree in College Student Personnel from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She is passionate about mentoring graduate students and collaborating with new professionals in Student Affairs, which led to her leadership role in the New Professionals and Graduate Students Steering Committee within the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA). Besides higher education, Mary Ann is most passionate about her two cats, Kimchi and Sopa.
