Biography

Julie Hunt has been a dedicated member of the Social Work faculty at Belmont University since 2000. Since 2016, she has served as the Director of Field Education. Over her tenure at Belmont, she has played a pivotal role in shaping the social work curriculum, teaching a wide range of courses from Introduction to Social Work to Field Seminar, along with classes in the Practice sequence, Social Work electives, and First Year Seminar.

Professor Hunt's passion lies in developing and refining curriculum to discover and implement best practices, a focus that has become the cornerstone of her scholarly work. As Director of Field Education, she finds great fulfillment in guiding students through their field placements, supporting them in the community, and providing valuable insights that enhance their learning experiences.

A Belmont alumna, Professor Hunt graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work. She went on to earn her Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee in 1997. After practicing clinically at two community nonprofits serving adolescents, Julie obtained her License in Clinical Social Work (LCSW) in 2001. She has since offered contracted clinical supervision to many Licensed Master Social Workers (LMSW) on their path to obtaining their LCSW credential.

Professor Hunt is deeply committed to fostering connections with students, clients, practitioners, and the broader community. Her scholarly work includes collaboration with interprofessional teams and research on the impact of pedagogical approaches on student learning. She continuously strives to enhance the educational experience to better serve the community. Her contributions extend beyond the classroom to the School of Social Work, the college, the university, and the greater Nashville area, where she remains an active and engaged participant.
