Biography

Jon McKinnon, Ph.D., L-CPT, graduated from Liberty University with his Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. He is a licensed clinical pastoral therapist with experience in private practice and as a counselor and Director of Counseling for a large homeless shelter. As an ordained pastor, he has served as the music minister/worship leader and youth pastor at three churches. In addition to those roles, he provided pastoral care and counseling for church and community members.

Dr. McKinnon’s research interests include exploring the experiences of young adults with intellectual disabilities, spiritual formation and integration in counseling, and recovery for people experiencing homelessness. Dr. McKinnon is a member of the American Counseling Association, Association for Spiritual, Ethical, and Religious Values in Counseling, Tennessee Counseling Association, and a psychotherapist member of ACPE.
