Biography

Dr. Rushing is a U.S. trained physician and diplomate of the American Board of Pathology in both Anatomic Pathology and Dermatopathology. After graduating from the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, she obtained her Masters of Public Health degree at The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where she did melanoma research at The Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center. She then completed her Anatomic pathology residency at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation and Dermatopathology fellowship at The University of Arkansas.

She practiced in private practice dermatopathology for seven years before deciding to dedicate herself to teaching full-time. Since then, Dr. Rushing has taught medical school pathology to over 1000+ medical students and mentored many of them through their medical school journey and Step 1 boards preparation. Dr. Rushing has recently started the successful Rushing Review, an online comprehensive pathology board review course for Step 1 preparation. She has won multiple teaching awards from her students and has been published in several journals including Human Pathology, The Journal of Cutaneous Pathology and Modern Pathology. Dr. Rushing loves the outdoors and is the proud mother of 3 grown children and her black labrador Cleo. She and her husband Allen (and Cleo) are looking forward to their move to Tennessee and being a part of the Belmont Frist College of Medicine family.
