Biography

A Nashville native, Elaine was a career elementary music teacher in Franklin Special Schools.  She took early retirement in 2019 and started teaching for Belmont in 2020. 
Elaine has her Bachelor’s and Master’s in music from Belmont.  She directed the Preparatory/Foundations choir of Nashville Children’s Choir from 2002-2023, co-directing NCC for a couple of years before her retirement.  She loves to sing and is currently singing for Vox Grata Women’s Choir, Portara Ensemble, and as a staff singer at the Downtown Presbyterian Church.  She is also a licensed Kindermusik teacher. Elaine enjoys reading, yoga, walking and hiking, crossword puzzles and developing self-awareness and empathy through Nonviolent Communication classes. 
She is energized by her Belmont students and enjoys collaborating with them to develop new strategies for learning.
