Biography

Dr. Effie Berry proudly returned to her alma mater, Belmont University College of Pharmacy, in late 2025 as an Assistant Professor and Walgreens Community Practice Shared Faculty member. She is a pharmacy manager with Walgreens in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and brings extensive experience in community pharmacy leadership, operations, and patient-centered care. Dr. Berry earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Belmont University College of Pharmacy in 2017.

Dr. Berry’s area of specialty is community pharmacy practice and management. In her shared faculty role, she works on campus one day each week to promote awareness of community pharmacy and to strengthen engagement between students, faculty, and community practice. She is actively involved in teaching and mentoring student pharmacists and currently serves as a community pharmacy practice preceptor for both Belmont University College of Pharmacy and Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy. In recognition of her commitment to student development, Dr. Berry was honored as the 2024 IPPE Preceptor of the Year by Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy. She also serves as the Intern Engagement Lead for her Walgreens district, supporting the growth and development of student pharmacists across multiple sites. Her professional interests include leadership development, experiential education, pharmacy management, and preparing the next generation of pharmacists to thrive in patient-focused community practice settings.

Outside of work, Dr. Berry is married to her high school sweetheart and is the proud mom of two young children. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, traveling, and being actively involved in her church.
