Biography

Andie Day is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and entrepreneur with experience in fashion design, sourcing and production, costume design, and business management. As an Assistant Professor of Fashion, Andie has taught and mentored hundreds of students about fashion merchandising and design. Andie started her career working on professional costume projects, including the 2011 Super Bowl Halftime Show featuring Usher and The Black Eyed Peas, movies and television series including Dallas (TNT), Longmire (A&E), The Leftovers (HBO), and We Can Be Heroes (Netflix). She has worked on several commercial projects with clients, including the United States Postal Service, Ford, and Dell. as well as live activation projects for Amazon’s The Aeronauts, HBO’s Westworld, and Game of Thrones. Andie has worked with countless actors, performers, and athletes, including Larry Hagman, John Hawkes, Molly Parker, Tony Parker, Tony Hale, and Kevin Durant. Andie is the owner and founder of Mary Claret Studio, a contemporary apparel and textiles brand focused on soft goods products using natural and sustainable textiles. Mary Claret Studio was the winner of the Austin Young Chamber & City of Austin Economic Development Fast Start Competition and as a result, Andie was selected to be a Designer in Residence as part of the Austin Community College, Fashion Incubator. Mary Claret Studio has been featured in Texas Monthly and Southern Living magazines. As an educator, Andie is focused on incorporating active learning concepts into her classes to encourage students to be creative problem solvers and approach design with a human-centered perspective. As a scholar, she focuses on design-based research in active learning and creative design using sustainable textiles.
